Snow, snow everywhere...
It's so cold and the nights are colder. This is a cold winter with freezing temperatures and very little snow. When it finally snowed, it covered everything and took forever to melt. My day time job is progressing nicely and I've been asked to paint something for a large salon. They gave me an idea of what they wanted and the colors of the shop and now I have to buy canvas and paint. This is so exciting and it will get me painting, something I always loved to do. Also, I can paint a few extra paintings and go towards galleries again and make some money. It's a win-win situation. It's also time for me to deal with my immigration stuff. Gotta renew my green card. Hopefully, it will go smoothly. Happy New Year!
It was a beautiful, quiet new year and I enjoyed every minute of it. I don't drink liquor but I will indulge in a cup of vino every once in a while, especially on holidays. January is my time to make lists, lists of things to do during the year. I try to stick to the list but every once in a while things pop up, which throws a wrench in my time line. This year, it's my painting. I've put it to the side a few times and I have to get going on that too. I'm a gallery artist and I would like to get back into a few galleries. So, I'm typing up parts of Blood Rage, G.O.D.s Beginnings and working my butt off while making a conscious effort to concentrate on how to deal with what's coming this year. Something big is happening, I can feel it. Gotta be ready to deal. Hey, we're getting really close to Christmas time and I can't wait!
I'm a big kid when it comes to this time of year. I love putting up decorations and watching the kids faces light up when they see the lights on the house and the tree light up for the first time. I try to get each of my grandkids beautiful gifts that I know they really want and we have a sweet Christmas dinner with turkey, dressing, and all the fixings. Lots of dessert and plenty of music and fun. Every year we watch a Christmas movie together, too. On the writing front, I've finished my book based on true events from my life. I was going to try to get an agent, but I have to wait. There's something very important that is taking priority right now. It's something that controls my livelihood, and could very well control my life in the United States. Its all stemming from me being dumped by my parents so very long ago. I'm going to fix this mess, come hell or high water, it will be fixed. It's time for the great race. Yep, that's what I call getting ready for Thanksgiving Day and Christmas.
Time to get the menu together for the holiday and buy all the stuff that goes with it. I always have lots of people over, and at least three tables set up, (two for the grown ups and one for the kids.) The grandchildren are told to write up their Christmas lists and give each of us a copy. I then get together with my kids and we figure out who will get what for each kid. There are decorations that are taken out of the closets and linen, and of course, old relics that have become treasures over the years. As far as my writing goes, I've been typing up the end of Blood Rage. I had some serious plot holes that need to be addressed. You guys have no idea how hard it is to find a plot hole at the end of a book, one that has to be addressed at the very beginning of the book, and it has to match everything in all three books. Its real work and it has to be done. Wish me luck! What with kids in school now I have to leave earlier for work. School buses impede progress on the highway and back roads. I get up and 5:30, get ready by 6:30 and go to work. Yep, I work a full time job and write novels, and paint, and sculpt, and babysit my sweet grands. I have a full life you guys!
Now... I want to talk to you guys about giving. Donations to No Kid Hungry, March of Dimes, and especially Amvets. I give to all three every single year. Amvets is easy. Just get some of your clothes, shoes, dishes, small appliances and send to Amvets. They truly appreciate everything you give and they are a tax deduction, (if you need one.) But please, don't give junk. Only give what you would want to get. Don't give them that old polyester suit that's been sitting in your closet for thirty years. Give your tee shirts and jeans that have been slightly worn. There are people that need, need, need and they will appreciate your gift. On the G.O.D.s front. I'm typing up my book of short stories slowly but surely. Next year I will have two books ready, hopefully. School started and the weather changed overnight!
I suffer from allergies and the sneezing has started. The trees are turning color, lots of rain and that makes mold on the underside of the leaves. Once it rains again, it's sets up a blitzkrieg of allergies. I can't type two words without sneezing. And yes, I take medication but I'm hypersensitive and only take children's or baby meds. So, I fall asleep once I take meds. It sucks! I either have to type while sneezing, (impossible) or take my meds and get the best sleep of my life, but miss out on typing. Life's a cunnumdrum of weird choices. Perfect weather to have a big birthday for my two oldest grands!
They're great kids and I love them to death. Right after, I get to typing. I'm wrapping up my novel based on parts of my life. I'm also gathering information for next year. I'm working on Book 3, Blood Rage. I already have the cover and it's very similar to the second book cover. It's Griffin's eye, only there's a blood tear on the cover. It's a beautiful cover that reveals parts of the book. In book 3 Griffin goes nose to nose with the singing nemesis, Zade Swift. Lots of love. Lots of death and betrayal. Lots of interesting twists. You guys are in for a roller coaster ride! The Family reunion was off the chain, guys!
We went down in a huge 12 passenger van and stayed for three days. I met so many of the old family members that I've known for decades. There was a banquet and lots of great food. The hotel was right next to the mall so when I got bored, I just walked over to the mall. Swimming. Dancing. Partying. Man, I was tired after just three days! lol The ride back was uneventful and shorter than the ride there. The grand kids had so much fun singing, playing travel games and napping whenever they wanted while the adults fought over directions and snacks. No writing on that trip. My computer saw no action. This has been a great summer!
Lots of sunshine, warm weather in the daytime and cool at night. I love the summers up here. I've been involved with all kinds of birthday parties. My kids and my grandkids. Also had a few graduations. I swear money has been flying from my hands to the cash register and I can't keep up. Too much going on this year. I have five grandkids living with me now. Two grown kids in college and one grandkid in college. Are you really that old? Heck no! I just had kids early. LOL I loves me some kids. Always have. Well, next month is the family reunion and I'm going. Gotta get ready to see all the old fam. I miss them. Can't wait to see em... |
